Scott Spiers Oh, man. Nothing fancy here, just straight-ahead hard rock with more than a Stoner edge. I could listen to Psychonaut/Edge of Light on repeat for a few hours. This comes across as something that could have been released in 1998 and been a classic of the genre. It feels like it did, and that’s a remarkable accomplishment. Favorite track: Psychonaut / Edge of Light.

Kirk Gauthier I dare Blackwülf to make a bad record. I DOUBLE DOG DARE THEM. Wanna know why? Because it’ll never happen! Both of their previous releases on Ripple Music are riff goldmines, and this one is no different. Just wall-to-wall killer riffs. This band RULES. Favorite track: Psychonaut / Edge of Light.

Colin M. More crunchy riff-driven hard rock with heavy metal flair. Nice. Favorite track: Cries For a Dying Star.

FDJ (Desert Psychlist) Everything you would expect and want from a Blackwulf album. The title track is an absolute banger and the rest are none too shabby either. Favorite track: Thieves and Liars.

Drawing from influences found in the dark corners of your stepdad’s vinyl collection, the vintage five-piece outfit’s electric live performances and headbanging heaviness have converted a wide base of ravenous fans from Los Angeles to London. What distinguishes BLACKWÜLF from many of their contemporaries is a strong emphasis on “songs” rather than “sound,” delivering a wide slab of listenable vintage-style metal that draws strength from imaginative content and quality performance.
