Paul Quinn It's even better than the last album these guys produced, which was also stunning and unique in that lush Doomy Prog kind of way, but proves them to be no flash in the pan. Stunning. Favorite track: I Love the Woods.

Alrihkh 🙏, Obsidian Sea!
Need a refreshing dose of classic 70’s-sounding progressive heavy rock/doom metal? You need look no further. O.S. delivers just that, here. Song structures remind me of the expressive wizardry of early B.S. Great guitar solos & guitar tone (think T. Lizzy)—overall, very dramatic atmospheric music that invokes a great sense of old-world suspense & mysticism, the contribution of each musician masterful. This album grows on you & calls you back to it. 8.5/10. Favorite track: I Love the Woods.

Andy K. This vintage sounding band is fully steeped in the 70’s sound. Besides the melancholy and mournful aesthetics, early prog influences rise to the top of this interesting and luxurious album. If you like to be lead on a thoughtful journey I highly recommend this one.

Colin M. Big, fuzzy prog-doom. Really nails the warm fuzzy tone, too.

about

Sofia-based vintage rockers and kings of epic melodies OBSIDIAN SEA present their fourth album 'Pathos.' Written during months of isolation, ‘Pathos' is a work that finds the trio injecting heaviness, exuberance, aggression, dreamlike melancholy and introspection all at once — “a therapeutic process of emotional release through the music, but also one of establishing a truer human connection within the band” as described by the band. It's a record by a band who intends to express utmost honesty without any fear or apology, as offered in their uncompromisingly classic style of classic proto-doom heaviness.
