pinkytheent Totally new to these guys and boy, I sure am glad I checked out this record! A delicious feast of siqqq, juicy, and tasty riffs exploding into your face in a truly delectable live album, brimming with eager energy. Melodies are great, instruments sound great, mix sounds fantastic, this is just a rock solid package. Maybe I should get more live albums: the live, high-octane human musicality is like a refreshing rain in comparison to all those overproduced and computerized records out there. Favorite track: Cadillac.

Kirk Gauthier While the band name Rainbows Are Free might sound pretty silly, these riffs are anything but. What you will find contained within this record is an absolutely incendiary performance by a band utterly and completely ready to decimate their audience just for the chance to stretch their limbs. The COVID pandemic was especially hard on musicians the world over, but what we have here is a sense of freedom—of liberation—at the opportunity to try and regain that feeling, even if for only a little bit. Favorite track: Crystal Ball.

Logen Ninefingers At 7ft tall, with a penchant for wearing ceremonial robes & owner of a versatile, soaring vocal style, frontman Brandon Kistler must command apt attention live, as he bellows, shrieks and roars like a demented Jim Morrison over the heady, sonic, Monster Magnet-esque brew created by his band mates. 'Heavy Petal Music' is An explosive live set, track after track of Pure Rock Fury; those in attendance must now know how Millhouse felt after playing Bonestorm. Ignore these guys at your peril! Favorite track: Like A River.

Heavy Petal Music by Rainbows Are Free is a live retrospective of the heavy psychedelic band’s fifteen-year discography, featuring a comprehensive sampling from their three previous studio albums, as well as a few rarities performed from their eponymous self-released demo EP. The album was recorded live at the Summer Breeze music festival in RAF’s home town of Norman, OK on August 8th, 2021 – their first live performance after the pandemic. The band’s pent up energy bursts forth from the stage and through the speakers like a six-headed hydra that just broke free from its bonds after being confined to darkness for nearly two years! If for whatever reason listening to Rainbows Are Free's past studio output didn't convince you of their sublime command of pure, unfiltered heaviness, this live recording goddamn better.
