Colin M. Crunchy doom that is heavy on atmosphere. I can't put my finger on any one thing, but it sounds different somehow, and I appreciate that greatly. Favorite track: Dust.

FDJ (Desert Psychlist) Fender take note: Lowcaster is not only a great album of atmospheric epic flavoured doom metal it would also be a great name for a guitar aimed at the low tuned end of the rock spectrum.

Crinklechips This is a haunting, ethereal, lightly gothic album that encompasses a fair few metal sub-genres.

The vocals are of note as they vary from soaring to angelic and from gritty to raging.

Its an ambitious, atmospheric album without being overly complex.

Yeah, I like it. A lot!

Bucky Hot damn! First off, look at that gorgeous cover art. The colors set the mood and the atmosphere 'Flames Arise' emit on this debut album on Ripple Music. Todd's been raving about this to me for months, and after a thorough listen I will agree this is a smoker. Flames Arise burn with a metallic structure heavy on riffy hooks, bone tingling bass runs, and grit stricken vocals. At one point its like a post-metal classic, the next a bar stomping rawker. That art though!!!!

Like an ancient, old-growth redwood, alone in a field of industrial decimation, LOWCASTER is one of the few heavy acts left standing in San Francisco’s deforested metal scene. Formed in 2015, their branches reach out in all directions, from thrash to post-metal, from doom to psyche. Their massive, raw sound is nourished by the deepest dirt-encrusted roots of Bay Area underground music. By the end of 2016, the band had played relentlessly throughout the Bay Area and self-released their first full length album, The Vapor Sea.

Two years of tragedy and loss transformed the fertile ground beneath their feet to a morass of toxic sludge. Beset by death, the Bay Area quartet battled through cavernous tombs flooded by despair, and have now emerged from the ‘Vapor Sea’ to take flight on torched wings. Serious writing and recording transformed the wasteland of these two years into LOWCASTER’s second full length, ‘Flames Arise’. Sonically, they are now reaching beyond the redwood canopy. The sophomore release is as much a dirge as it is a battle cry. Yet, high above the crest the band’s sights aim skyward, arms outstretched toward vistas mystical, melodic, and undeniably metal.

The album was recorded at Sharkbite Studio in Oakland (USA), mixed by Jason Bridges and mastered by James Plotkin. The album artwork was designed by Nicole Momaney and Spirited Animals.

An amazing album 👍🏻 It took me a while to get into Boss Keloid’s groove. I knew intellectually that it was my kinda music but I didn’t take to Melted On The Inch like I thought I would. I think listening to lots of modern jazz limbered me up! This is really complicated prog rock with heavy ass guitars added for street cred. I’m so happy that anyone might consider this band cool. They’re fucking cool to me but music like this has been vilified in the past. All hail the new Gentle Giant! Crinklechips
